Bass Pro Shops Sets Its Sayreville Opening Date, With a Restaurant and Bowling Inside

Bass Pro Shops is finally putting a date on the calendar for Central Jersey. The outdoor giant will open its Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World at 1 Bass Pro Drive in Sayreville on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, Veterans Day, inside the Riverton development off the Garden State Parkway near I-95 and I-287.

This is not a small footprint and it is not a soft opening. At 200,000 square feet, Sayreville will be the chain's largest single level store and its first location in Central Jersey. The company says the store will employ more than 300 people, which tells you the scale they are planning for on day one. For Middlesex County, and for anyone who drives this stretch of the Parkway, Riverton just got its anchor.

Opening night is built as an event, not just a ribbon cutting. Bass Pro is calling it an Evening for Conservation. Live entertainment starts at 5 PM, the ribbon cutting is at 6 PM, and then the doors open. The company says 15 percent of sales on most items that evening will go to local conservation efforts, a nod to the conservation mission Bass Pro has used to frame its grand openings around the country.

Walk inside and the centerpiece is hard to miss. The store is built around an 80,000 gallon Shipwreck Aquarium that rises nearly three stories, home to more than 280 fish. There is also a ray touch pool and jellyfish exhibits, the kind of setup that turns a shopping trip into a half day outing, especially for families. Bass Pro stores have always leaned into that museum meets retail idea, and Sayreville is getting the biggest version New Jersey has seen.

Also on display inside will be Fidelity V, the former personal offshore fishing boat of President George H.W. Bush. It is a detail that fits the brand: part retail, part Americana, part fishing history, all in one building.

The reason this story belongs on KezusGuides is what you can eat and do after you look at the fish. Inside the store is The Flemish Cap, a North Atlantic themed restaurant and entertainment area with casual dining, underwater themed bowling, and arcade games. The name is a fishing reference, the Flemish Cap is a famous fishing ground in the North Atlantic, and the concept turns the usual food court idea into a sit down, stay a while experience. Bowling under a sea theme, dinner inside an outdoor superstore, arcade games for the kids: it is designed so a family can come for tackle or boots and end up staying for a meal and a game.

That matters for Sayreville. Central Jersey has plenty of big box retail along Route 9, Route 18, and the Parkway corridor, but it does not have many places that combine shopping, dining, and entertainment under one roof at this size. Riverton is a long planned mixed use development, and a 200,000 square foot destination with its own restaurant gives nearby towns a new reason to make the trip, not just pass through on the way to the Shore or the city.

A note on a rumor that has been floating around: Wahlburgers announced plans earlier in 2026 to open inside a forthcoming Bass Pro store, and this location sought a liquor license, but Bass Pro has not confirmed a Wahlburgers for Sayreville. If that changes, we will update this story. For now, the confirmed food story inside is The Flemish Cap.

Practical details if you are planning to go on opening night: get there early. Entertainment starts at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 11, the ribbon cutting is at 6 PM, and grand opening crowds at Bass Pro locations in other states have drawn lines well before doors open. The address to put in your maps is 1 Bass Pro Drive, Sayreville, NJ, in the Riverton development off the Garden State Parkway, with easy access from I-95 and I-287. Parking and traffic will be the story on night one, so patience will help.

After opening night, expect this to settle in as one of the biggest retail draws in Middlesex County, and one of the more unusual dining stops in Central Jersey. A restaurant and bowling alley inside a fishing and outdoor store sounds like a novelty, and it is, but that is exactly why people will go check it out. We will be watching what The Flemish Cap actually serves once menus are out, and whether the bowling and arcade turn Sayreville into a regular family night out spot, not just a grand opening headline.
