Viral Cheesesteak Shop Christo’s Wake & Steak Opens in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey

A popular North Jersey cheesesteak shop has officially expanded into Bergen County.

Christo’s Wake & Steak is now open at 252 Main Street in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, taking over the former Bob-O’s Cheesesteaks location.

This is the second Christo’s Wake & Steak restaurant in New Jersey. The original location opened in Bloomfield in 2024 and developed a following for cheesesteaks made with ribeye sliced fresh in-house.

What Is on the Menu at Christo’s Wake & Steak?

Christo’s gives customers two different ways to order its signature cheesesteak.

The “new-school” cheesesteak comes with creamy Cooper Sharp cheese, while the “old-school” version uses classic cheese Whiz.

The Ridgefield Park menu also includes:

  • Chopped cheese sandwiches

  • Buffalo chicken cheesesteaks

  • Chipotle chicken sandwiches

  • Loaded cheesesteaks

  • Other casual sandwiches and sides

Why This Bergen County Opening Matters

Christo’s Wake & Steak is entering one of North Jersey’s most competitive sandwich markets.

The restaurant is also replacing another cheesesteak business, meaning local customers already recognize the location as a destination for cheesesteaks.

Its expansion from Bloomfield into Ridgefield Park shows that Christo’s is attempting to turn its original Essex County success into a larger North Jersey restaurant brand.

The biggest question is whether Bergen County customers will choose the Cooper Sharp cheesesteak or keep it old-school with Whiz.
