Cliffside Park's Anderson Avenue has a new tequileria. Rojo Tequileria & Mexican Grill officially opened on Monday at 790 Anderson Ave, in the space Viva Margarita left behind this summer.
Viva Margarita closed the location in early August, ending a run that started on Lawton Avenue in 2016 before the move to Anderson Ave in 2020. The chain still pours in Hackensack, Wallington and Hazlet.
Rojo was announced as the replacement in late August, and the space got a transformation in between, including a new bar built for a tequileria style program of premium cocktails.
The menu runs Mexican with Latin inspired dishes, billed as elevated plates alongside the drinks, with dinner service and room for private events.

Anderson Ave is one of Bergen County's busiest food strips, and a full bar Mexican spot with event space is a different bet than the margarita happy hour spot it replaces. This one is built to be watched.
