Pepe’s Chicken Just Opened in Ridgewood, and It Comes From the UK

Downtown Ridgewood has a new chicken spot, and it arrived with an accent. Pepe's Chicken is now open at 22 Oak Street, taking over the space that held Dosa House, the pure vegetarian Indian spot that opened there earlier this year.

The flip is total. Out goes the dosa menu, and in comes a casual lineup built on crispy fried chicken and signature smash burgers, made to order with different toppings, sauces and combinations.

The menu runs wider than the name suggests. Beyond the chicken and burgers there are wings, chicken tikka, lamb gyros, mixed platters and falafel, so the place lands somewhere between a chicken joint and a Mediterranean grill.

The concept bills itself with the line "From the UK to the USA," playing up its British inspiration, a fried chicken shop format that has been huge across the pond and is still rare in Bergen County.

Pepe’s offers dine in, takeout and delivery, with online ordering through its website.

Ridgewood's Oak Street corridor keeps turning over, and a made to order chicken and burger spot gives downtown an easy weeknight option it did not have a month ago.
